This week we did more exploring than we did working. One day we went to Appomattox Courthouse and toured the McLean house. It was here that Grant and Lee met for the surrender that ended the Civil War. A few days later we visited Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest here in Lynchburg. Poplar Forest was Jefferson’s retreat home. Set on 4,816 acres the home and the slave quarters of 54 slaves have been reconstructed and are open to the public.
The one thing I did get done is (finally) hanging my flags!! We have an American and a Virginia state flag proudly flying out front. Also changed our house numbers to something a bit bigger and sleeker. See what you think..

I guess I need to remove the small house numbers on the front of the porch roof….
